my latest creation
lmao
If this image I colored forever ago from the Scott Pilgrim comic can make it to Bryan Lee O’Malley’s tumblr I might just shit myself.
Tumblr, you got someone a fluffy chicken.
All I’m askin’ is you get a guy to see my shitty coloring job.
Thank.
lol at the very thought that someone could think my word-for-word backstreet boys reference was unintentional!
CRITIQUE: Scott’s mouths shouldn’t be white. I hate “teeth color”. I like “mouth color” (like pink or red). Otherwise, pretty kewl…………
Junot Diaz on Men Who Write About Women
The Atlantic: It sounds like you're saying that literary "talent" doesn't inoculate a writer—especially a male writer—from making gross, false misjudgments about gender. You'd think being a great writer would give you empathy and the ability to understand people who are unlike you—whether we're talking about gender or another category. But that doesn't seem to be the case.
Junot Diaz: I think that unless you are actively, consciously working against the gravitational pull of the culture, you will predictably, thematically, create these sort of fucked-up representations. Without fail. The only way not to do them is to admit to yourself [that] you're fucked up, admit to yourself that you're not good at this shit, and to be conscious in the way that you create these characters. It's so funny what people call inspiration. I have so many young writers who're like, "Well I was inspired. This was my story." And I'm like, "OK. Sir, your inspiration for your stories is like every other male's inspiration for their stories: that the female is only in there to provide sexual service." There comes a time when this mythical inspiration is exposed for doing exactly what it's truthfully doing: to underscore and reinforce cultural structures, or I'd say, cultural asymmetry.
this is cute. someone colored this a while ago and then someone put a word on it and then someone took it from tumblr and put it on weheartit and then like 50 people took it from weheartit and put it back on tumblr so that’s how the world works i guess
WHY AM I THANKED IN SKULLGIRLS?
or something
Skullgirls is a video game. A fighting game. An indie game. It came out last year and they are currently working on new DLC. It has a cult following.
Reason 1: Two of the lead artists on Skullgirls worked on the Scott Pilgrim game.
Reason 2: The main character designer of Skullgirls, Alex Ahad, is someone I’ve known (IRL) for over ten years. I had him do a pinup (of Matthew Patel and the demon girls) in the back of Scott Pilgrim volume 3 in 2006.
Reason 3: There was a hilarious time when the game was announced and the gaming blogs played a game of telephone where Alex was credited with a pinup in Scott Pilgrim and that changed to “worked on Scott Pilgrim” and then eventually became “creator of Scott Pilgrim”. He was embarrassed but it wasn’t his fault. I wasn’t mad. We all thought it was just kinda funny.
Reason 4: I support Skullgirls! These people are my friends!! Friends thank friends in their credits!!!!
@RadioMaru is the awesome Bryan Lee O’Malley. I’ve been a fan of Scott Pilgrim for years, so it was highly flattering for him to tweet that he was unfollowing me. I mean, in my weirdoverse where unfollowing me means you want to be interviewed. (Note: please don’t do that, anyone else. I’M DONE…

It would be cool if you contributed to this indie comics project. Mia Schwartz (dangerschwartz on tumblr) is one of my favorite young cartoonists and I want to read more of her work.
Hey look, eight new tees and some reprints are up for preorder at SEIBEI! You can even get them as TANK TOPS if you want (sizes S - 2XL only, sorry).
Orders are being placed with the printer this week, and everything will ship early May. I’m always surprised by what sizes of each design sells, so I’m trying out a preorder system to make sure that no one who wants a shirt in a certain size is denied.
HOPE YOU LIKE THEM! Which one is your favorite?
David’s Sprang 2013 collection is ON POINT
I don’t normally do this but these are very cool shirts by a very cool guy whom I’m love. You should order some.
Really.
This blog (thebestfighterintoronto) is doing really interesting panel selections from Scott Pilgrim lately. It’s letting me see my own work in a unique different context. I recommend it!
